How firm should your mattress be?
Choosing the right mattress is based on some personal preference however everyone needs a few things.
When shopping for a mattress you should always lay on the mattress on your back and then in the position that you normally sleep. Everyone needs “support and alignment”. You do not want the “hammock” effect. If you mid section is dipping then the mattress is not supportive enough for you. (The heavier you are, the more supportive mattress is required). A lightweight person can go with a nice fluffy softer mattress while the 300 pound person needs a beefier mattress. Everyone needs to avoid a “non-supportive” mattress.
Once you have established that the mattress is supporting your mid-section, then you can begin the personal preference comparisons.
Don’t for get to also consider the heat factor. Some mattresses will sleep hotter than others. You will sleep better when your body heat dissipates and is not trapped between you and your mattress.
