ONLINE Mattress Store: Ship lightweight mattresses (many of our mattresses are much too heavy to ship) (That’s why many of ours will last 20 years while the online mattress store’s mattress will last 2-4 years (if you’re lucky).
Big retail Mattress Store: (Owned by big corporation which is probably in South Africa) Has huge overhead: Expensive store, expensive advertising, owner needs to get paid, managers and staff need to get paid, salespeople need to get paid. Therefore the mattress prices are high for decent quality or sell low quality in order to get prices low.
NO BULL types of Mattress Store: Have higher overhead due to expensive advertising. Owner has to get paid and salesperson has to get paid. Prices are higher than Charleston Bedding.
WAREHOUSE: You usually cannot try them out. These mattresses are not the quality that you will find at Charleston Bedding! They are lighter weight and are not focused on quality.

Anyone that knows me or has visited my store / blog knows that I have been a big proponent of latex mattresses. 10 years ago I slept on Tempur-pedic and switched to latex. I found that the latex slept much cooler than Tempurpedic. I sold and believed in latex for the past 10 years. After speaking with some colleagues who also own mattress stores, I decided to give Tempur-pedic another look. I started looking at the quality and improvements that Tempur-pedic has recently made. The more that I looked, the better I liked them. I put Tempur-pedic in my store. Then I started testing them. I found them to sleep extremely cool. Now I’ve taken one home and replaced my latex. I have to admit hands down that I am sleeping incredibly better. I’m waking up feeling much better. (I honestly can’t believe how cool my new mattress sleeps). Keep in mind that the latex mattress I recently replaced slept great and I loved it. I just happen to be in the position of being able to fine tune my personal mattress. I am now convinced that currently Tempur-pedic has the very best product on the market. The mattress industry is constantly changing. Something will sooner or later come along that is another improvement but for right now, Tempur-pedic is the best!
First of all, we keep our prices low. (We don’t mark the price of our mattresses up as much as our competition because we don’t have to).
Second, we don’t sell the poor quality stuff that costs us less. All of our mattresses are made in the U.S.A. and have been well tested. (We only use top quality material in the construction of our mattresses).
We take pride in being the best! While customer satisfaction is around 50/50 on online mattresses and certain other stores, we make sure that all of our customers are 100% happy!

It’s taken me a while to understand which sheets are best. (There are so many opinions when it comes to sheets). So many women seem to be convinced that “their” sheets are the best. Most of the time people tell me that their sheets are heavy cotton.
I can tell you that cotton sheets sleep hot. All you have to do is sleep one night with heavy cotton sheets and then one night with “breathable” sheets.
You will feel a big difference and sleep better when your sheets breath.
But how do I convince people of this? I can’t give them sheets to try and then bring them back.
One way that I have to show you the difference is to put your sheets up to your mouth and blow. If there is no air flow, you could be sleeping much better.
I recommend Bedgear sheets. They are top quality and designed to sleep cool. These sheets are such an improvement over cotton sheets that you would not believe it.
All I can say is….. trust me. If your strive to get the best sleep, change to Bedgear sheets.
People come in to the showroom every week to purchase a box spring (foundation). When I ask if they purchased a mattress online they will sometimes and reluctantly tell me they did. After a few more minutes of discussion they almost always say “I wish I would have come here first”.
That is easy to understand once you are standing in my store. These people have seen the quality that comes in the box and now compared it with the better mattresses that I carry. (It’s easy to see). They paid around $900 for a queen mattress and now have to spend another $100 on a foundation. (They could have purchased a much better mattress including the box spring from me for under $900. And……. it would have been delivered and set up without all the hassle of shopping for a foundation.
Before you make the mistake of buying a mattress based on the million dollar website that convinces you how great they are by showing all the positive reviews (which they control), visit my showroom. You will be glad you did!

Yes these new online mattress stores have great marketing. Their websites are very impressive. If you know anything about mattresses however, their mattresses are not that great. There is nothing special or unique about those mattresses. (They have not invented a new design or better mattress) What they have done is invented a mattress designed for shipping. Our mattresses cannot be shipped because ours are much heavier.
Most people will like any “New” mattress. (It’s better than what they had before). That is why they will tell their friends that they like their new mattress. (They better not come by our store after purchasing their online mattress or they will be sad).
I can tell you that I have seen those new mattresses. We deliver to homes every day in which the people purchased one of the online mattresses and then came to our store. When we deliver our mattress and see the online mattress sitting there, there is no comparison. You can tell just by looking at our mattress that it is a real mattress and built better. Our mattress will weigh much more. (Our mattresses are designed to be moved in a truck and not designed to be mailed).
Our mattresses are just built better.

I believe that there are hip surgeries being performed every day that could be prevented simply by sleeping on a firmer (more supportive) mattress.
I just returned from my time share vacation where I slept on the same mattress as this time last year. (This mattress is 11 years old) and should have been replaced about 8 years ago. Just like last year, on this same mattress, I found myself developing hip pain around the 3rd night of sleeping on this mattress. After the 5th night, my pain was so severe that I could not play golf.
As soon as I returned home to my “supportive” mattress, my pain was completely gone after the second day. (I never have or had hip pain in my life except for these 2 separate weeks, from 2 separate years on the same mattress).
In my opinion, that should be the first and primary thing that the hip surgeon looks at before or above any other procedure. Meanwhile this blog post goes unnoticed.
The mattress that caused the problem for me sunk in the middle. It was not supporting my weight. (I sleep on my side and switch back and forth from right to left). While on the “non-supportive” mattress my weight was all focused on my hip. With my “supportive” mattress at home my weight is evenly distributed throughout my side from head to foot.
