Don’t buy a mattress based on advertising!
Do your homework! Millions of dollars are spent every day on advertising designed to confuse mattress shoppers. Advertising works well when it comes to mattress shoppers. The average mattress shopper visits only one place before they buy. Most mattress retailers count on mattress shoppers to impulse buy. 99% of mattress shoppers know nothing about mattresses. They walk into these high priced national chains and see the vast selection and all the different name brands. (Serta, Sealy, Simmons, Stearns & Foster and Tempurpedic) not realizing that all these brands are owned by the same company and that there is really no competition between them. They then think that these high prices are just how much they cost. They don’t take the time to compare. So they buy the over priced mattress, take it home and cannot understand why it is not very supportive, sleeps hot and is not that durable. They don’t understand why when they bought the big name brand mattress they are not sleeping that well . They don’t realize that the big “S” brand mattresses moto is “build it for less money and sell it high”.
The worst way to buy a mattress is to buy based on “Name Brand”!
There are 500 mattress manufacturers in the U.S.A. who get their components from the same few companies! So why do most people only buy those seven?……… Advertising works in the mattress business!
Paying more for a mattress does not mean it’s better!
Most mattress stores count on the fact that the average consumer does not know anything about mattresses. It is difficult to find accurate information regarding what to look for when purchasing a mattress. When you perform an online search for information, most of what you will see is placed there by these brand name companies. It may seem that you are receiving unbiased information however that is likely not the case. Often the people that are selling mattresses don’t even know about them. On my blog I try to provide accurate information with regard to mattress construction and the mattress industry. Here is an unbiased online website that i recommend http://www.themattressunderground.com/
